How to change the text on an AI image without regenerating it

You finally have a poster you like. Then the date moves, the price changes or someone spots a typo. If the text is part of the generated image, fixing one word means asking the model again, and the new version can come back with a different font, a moved product or a new spelling mistake.

Why regenerating breaks a finished design

Image models paint text as pixels. The headline isn’t stored as text, so there is nothing to edit directly. Each new request redraws the picture, and a small change can ripple into parts you already approved. Every retry also costs time and, in most tools, credits.

If the words came out misspelled in the first place, see how to fix misspelled text on an AI poster in ChatGPT, Nano Banana and FLUX, or see our test of 64 promo posters across four image models.

Keep the words out of the picture

The reliable fix is to separate the two jobs. Generate the artwork with space left for the copy, then set the headline, date and price as live text on top. Live text behaves like text in a document: retype it, change the font or size, or move it, and the image underneath never changes. If you already have a clean, text-free image, you can layer Google Fonts over it right now in our free browser text overlay tool.

How it works in Prismind

  1. Describe what you’re promoting and attach your product photos or brand guide.
  2. Pick a layout draft, adjust where the product, headline and other elements go, then approve it.
  3. Prismind generates the artwork and sets your copy as live text in the Rendered tab.
  4. Select any text to retype it, switch fonts, resize it or move it. The artwork stays the same.
  5. Download a PNG with the text set in.

When the picture itself needs to change

Swapping a product, adding steam or changing the background is an image edit. In Prismind you can circle the area, draw an arrow or drop in a reference, and the image model makes the change. Results can vary and may take more than one try, so save image edits for when the picture really needs to change, and use live text for words, dates and prices.

Tips for any design tool

  • Leave the final copy out of your image prompt, and ask for clear space where it will go.
  • Keep a text-free copy of the artwork so you can reuse it for the next promotion.
  • After a date or price changes, export a new file and check it before you post. An older export is easy to publish by mistake.
  • Check the details that cost the most when wrong: dates, prices, phone numbers, addresses and the logo.
